- To be arrogant is to not admit needing help or having struggles or weaknesses. To act and speak as though you’re above others and to lose control of your ego.
- To be proud is to appreciate the work you’ve done and recognize when others have helped you (give credit where credit is due). Appreciate yourself and the fruits of your labor, but keep your ego in check.
If you accomplish something in CrossFit or in life, you likely had to work your ass off and overcome some barriers. You may get recognized for your achievements and you may feel deep pleasure or satisfaction from what you have done. That’s great. It’s healthy to appreciate your strengths and talents.
But, make sure…
-you give credit to those who have helped you
-you’re not regularly talking about yourself and what you have achieved
-you share your weaknesses, vulnerabilities, and struggles
-you stay grounded that you are not defined by your accomplishments (or setbacks)
As always, stop and be grateful, we are all very blessed.
