Mental Prep Before An Event Starts In Your Bed

Yea, I thought that would grab your attention.

But, seriously…if you want to feel as ready as possible to take on a WOD or compete in an event, your mental prep needs to start the second you open your eyes in the morning.

  • When you wake up on event day, immediately take a few slow, deep breaths and take your time opening your eyes (or keep them closed).
  • Start your affirmations and positive thoughts immediately – “I slept so well and my body feels rested” – “I am prepared and ready to take on the day because I have trained myself for this”“I am strong, capable and powerful”“I am proud of how far I have come and I can’t wait to be tested and improve even more”
  • Also, prepare for your day and WOD by taking time each morning to think about what and who you are thankful for. This will remind you that you are blessed, lucky and not to take anything for granted. Doing this will help keep you focused and grounded.
