For each week of the 2013 Open I’ll make a few tips and suggest some Mentality WOD Posts that will help you in the workout.
I want you to perform your best and feel great about each WOD. In order to do that, you have to be calm, focused and confident. Your mind must work for you, not against you.
- It’s a shorter WOD, but you need to stay in control of your energy so that you don’t burn out in 2 minutes. Get fired-up when you grab the barbell and be aggressive through the C&J. Focus on moving smoothly and breathing deeply during the T2B so that you’re more relaxed mentally and physically.
- Control your body language. Do not put your hands on your legs and spend time slumped over (even though you’re tired). Do not stare at your hands if they hurt. Do not hang your head. Stay upright, and keep your eyes up when you can. Never show your frustration, fatigue or discomfort.
- Push for just one more rep. Continue to tell yourself to get ‘just one more rep’ as the time is coming to an end. Keep working until after the buzzer sounds.
