I have coached a ton of athletes, and some are far more coachable and enthusiastic than others. I love when athletes ask questions before, during or after class. It shows that they care, are interested and want to know more.
Make a conscious effort to ask your coach questions. Here are some examples. Try them next time you’re at your box.
- “Why do you suggest doing in that way?”
- “Can you watch my lift and see if there’s anything I can improve?”
- “How do you think I can get better with my setup?”
- “What are a couple of things that I can work on for next time that movement comes up?”
Be inquisitive. Look for ways to improve. Ask a coach to watch you and make suggestions. Be an athlete who is steadfast on learning, growing, and getting better.
