If you are visiting a different box or you’re at a new place to compete, you need to be able to focus on your routine. This may include putting your gear on a certain way, writing in your journal, listening to a particular playlist, doing a mobility circuit or jumping rope.
No matter where you are or what’s going on around you, you are able to dial in to your routine (or at least parts of it). Focusing on very familiar movements and thoughts will mean you are less likely to pay attention to external environmental distractions like the hot or cold weather, the big class, the fans settling into their seats or the announcers. You’ll be more calm, confident and focused.
Do you have a routine that you do before a WOD, no matter where you are?
